As a newbie who’s coming from pen-style starters (Kangertech Evod 2 and Aveo Pulse mods), it makes a world of difference.
The tank is awesome, and even at the most restrictive setting, it’s got more airflow than what I’ve had before, which is a blessing because I’ve had to develop this weird half-applied lip technique to draw extra air in, ahah.
It’s also got tons more power – with the provided tank and factory settings, you’re going to get plentiful, ridiculously dense vapor even when exhaling (and I’m the kind of monster that likes holding the pull for 5-10 seconds). I even had to turn it down slightly, from the factory default of 25W, because of the sheer density of the cloud taking me by surprise (which makes sense considering none of my previous vapes went above 9W).

Having mostly used flat and hookah-style mouthpieces I had doubts about the comfort of the short barrel style intake of the tank, but that quickly dissipated – it is very comfortable and practical to use.

That being said, there is an arguable issue from this device. It’s not a design flaw, but rather an incompatibility – if like me you’re browsing for a mod to use with cannabis vape juice, you’re probably very familiar with Aveo’s disposable cartridge, as it does seem to be one of the most popular carts on the market. And if you’re the type of person who purchases those, this mod is not for you – because the air intake is a hole drilled near the thread, there is no way to get sufficient airflow to the coil to prevent burning your fluid. You’ll note that the Pulse, and other 510 mods that have that cartridge in mind, have a crowned design to account for that, allowing the hole to be uncovered to give you air flow. Even fastened in the loosest configuration that allows electrical contact almost completely obstructs this air hole – and trust me, you do NOT want to try the flavor of burnt vape juice. When fastened all the way in, the cartridge becomes practically airtight.

But if you keep that in mind, and if necessary get yourself an extra atomizer or two for different flavors/substances (this mod should work with any atomizer that has airflow above the thread, and it’s got a nice ohm-meter built in that should automatically detect the resistance of whatever coil your atomizer uses – subohm or not) or if you plan to use only one type of fluid, this is an awesome mod the build quality of which is apparent when you hold it. And it does work for any vape juice in theory – I’m currently using it with a 50-50 PG/VG blend CBD juice, and it’s absolutely fantastic.

I’m especially fond of the fact that it uses 18650’s – those are ridiculously abundant, and since you buy the battery separately you get to be ecologically conscious and replace them when their performance no longer match what you need, giving your device life for as long as the electronics hold out. (And being cells, you can even choose what you pick what suits you – Vapevine sells the 3000mAh VTC6, but in theory any will work, from the cheaper VTC4/5, 25R – or if the opposite tempts you, you could upgrade to a 3500/4000mAh pair of cells for even longer lasting power, as long as the voltage is right, of course – discretion is advised). Plus I’m giggling at the fact they’re using such large cells like AA’s.

The only actual downside is that the thermal control feature isn’t useful out of the box, as the Cerberus tank (and in fact looking at it, basically all of Geekvape’s tanks) are running kanthal coils. But if you end up with an atomizer that uses a compatible filament, it’s got pre-configured values for stainless steel, nickel and titanium wire, plus a TCR mode for any other material you might end up with that’s compatible with temperature mode.

Maybe I’m just a greenhorn in the world of vaping, but this kit has left a pretty good impression on me.

I’m honestly kind of wondering what kind of vaping could use 200W of power though…
